The City of Westminster

The City of Westminster joins the Carroll County Human Relations Commission in honoring a musician who has worked to build diversity and harmony through the arts in its 12th annual awards dinner, Monday, March 22, 2004.

Whereas, Walt Michael, as Founder and Executive Director of Common Ground on t he Hill, has promoted the exploration of cultural diversity among all ethnic, gender and racial groups, and;

Whereas, Walt Michael's primary instrument is the hammered dulcimer and in over thirty years of musical harmonies he has touched the hearts of millions with his music and his voice, and:

Whereas Common Ground on the Hill now has an international outreach, having extended ÔThe Beloved CommunityÕ to Scotland for the third year, and;

Whereas, the Westminster and Carroll Communities are fortunate to have Walt Michael promoting harmony, understanding and unity throughout the local and international communities.

Now, Therefore, Let the residents of the City of Westminster and Carroll County join with the Human Relations Commission in honoring Walt Michael for his efforts to promote human relations, understanding and diversity above and beyond expectations and boundaries.
